Insight from Coach Blackwell

As often as possible, I want to ask coaches about players and challenges that opposing teams give them.

So here's what Osaka Evessa sideline supervisor Ryan Blackwell had to say the other day about Sendai 89ers guard Takehiko "Take" Shimura and 89ers forward Johnny Dukes:

"Take is small, quick, and strong. He never seems to get tired, never stops moving and brings consistent energy to his team. The fact that he is so low to the ground makes it hard for most opponents to stop him. He's good at getting into the lane and making plays. He has a pretty decent shot from the perimeter which opens things up more for him. He is a great leader and teammate...even though I haven't played with him or coached him I can tell from his demeanor on the court. He's always staying positive no matter what the score is..he never gives up or stops playing hard.

"Johnny is a good athlete that plays inside and out. If his perimeter shot is falling, it makes them more tough because he's a pretty good finisher and good at getting in the lane and creating opportunities. He's a good rebounder with long arms and a capable defender because of his size and athleticism. He plays hard all the time which is something you always want from your players."

gotta agree with Coach Blackwell...Take is a good and agressive player that brings alot of energy to the game and Johnny Dukes is not only a very good player but a damn good person. His game really speaks for itself and any team would love to have a player of his caliber on their roster....I am a big fan of both these players...they are good for their team, good for the league!
